Amanda Eller, a yoga instructor and physical therapist just thirty-five years old.
Who hails from Hawaii, went for hiking in Makawao Forest Reserve. She was lost somewhere in the forest and was missing for two weeks. Her boyfriend disclosed about her that she is missing. Police started searching her and located her car; a Toyota RAV4 in the forest reserve’s parking.
Fire personnel and police kept on searching her for three days. Many volunteers also stepped in to search Eller. A Facebook page was formed in order to search her and the volunteers provided land and air services to find her.
During the search, it was revealed that Eller was captured in a vigilance camera while she was doing shopping in a market surrounding the forest. As a page was made in which funds up to 76 dollars were collected which later helped in paying a helicopter through which Eller was found.
Eller was located with the help of a helicopter and was found in the evening around the Makawao Forest Reserve.
This was confirmed by the Maui Police department.
When she was located in the forest she was waving at the search team and according to Javier Cantellops who was a rescuer, Eller was walking in the forest barefooted. He further added that they did not lose hope but kept on searching for Eller. The yoga trainer got weak and because of walking barefoot her ankles was cracked and was full of swelling and redness. According to her father, she survived only because of her will power and luck. It is obvious that being a yoga instructor she could halt the challenges in the forest.
Eller was shifted to a hospital so that she could be examined as she remained in a forest for a fortnight. The volunteers also said that Ellen was strong enough to bear all this. However, it was hard to believe that someone survived alone in a forest for two weeks.
