The former cop from Minneapolis was sentencing to a period of 22.5 years, although it was clearly outlined how he could get away with a much shorter sentence, depending upon his behavior. Contrary to experts’ belief, Chauvin did not receive the 25-year prison sentence that many felt he would get.

The controversy surrounding the sentencing continued as George Floyd’s relatives carried out a press conference after the news regarding the sentencing was reveal. And that’s when Floyd’s brother as well as his nephew spoke about how the sentencing outlined for the murderer of George Floyd was not justified.

Moreover, they questioned the act of him being given just 22.5 years, instead of lifetime imprisonment, which they felt was more justified for carrying out a cold-blooded murder in broad daylight.

She also added how the entire case has been one that was very difficult for her to bear. “I can safely tell you that my son is a good man and all that you hear about him being an aggressive, uncaring, and heartless individual is far from the truth,” she went on to add towards the end.
