Kid actor of “Minari” breaks down in a speech to the public.
Alan Kim, actor in “Minari”, broke down in an emotional speech while accepting his award for the Best Young Actor at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards. He is only eight years old and his performance has been acknowledged through his win.
In his role as David in “Minari,” a Korean American immigrant family residing in Arkansas grasps the motivation and perseverance to follow the American dream.
David faces a critical condition, having to push with his family in order to fulfill their dreams and necessities.
“Minari” was also awarded a Golden Globe for best foreign language film — in hindsight sparked a sweet reaction from the actor.
Although the film had won a Golden Globe for being the best foreign language film, it unfortunately did not win for best picture regardless of it portraying a distinctly American story.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association had narrowed it down to the foreign language movie category due to its dialogue that is mainly in Korean.
As he started to thank the Critics Choice voters along with his family, cast and crew members, he was on the verge of tears before finally breaking down, stating, “Oh my goodness, I’m crying,” while trying to maintain his composure (although he does become inaudible from his gibberish, it is quite emotional coming from a young actor.)
Alan hopes to be in another movie soon, asking, “Is this a dream? Hope it’s not a dream.”
Even after the awards, Alan states that he still feels like dreaming. His reactions appear on the famous show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the boy’s reaction is adorable — honoured to have been given the award.
He tells DeGeneres, “I felt really nice, that was actually my first award.
” He tells them that it was one of the reasons why he has broken down in his speech, “I felt a lot of emotions all at once and that made tears… and burst!”Replaced!
