Two teen girls have been caught on camera harassing an innocent man for speaking in Spanish with his friend on the phone on a street in Dublin, Ireland.
The teens went on an anti-immigrant rant filled with profound abuse as soon as they heard Dave Monklova, who is a Mexican living in Ireland, talking in Spanish to his friend on the phone.
According to Monklova, the two girls assaulted him and broke his earphones before he managed to start recording them for his own safety.
Following the incident, the Mexican shared his video on Twitter where users quickly accused the girls of racial profiling and unprovoked assault.
Recalling the incident, which happens to be the first of its kind since he moved to Ireland one year ago, Monklova said:
“I called my friend and when they heard me speak Spanish, they told me: ‘You are in Ireland you must speak English.’
“I ignored them as any other would do then I began to record them just in case they kept saying ‘you are an immigrant, return to your country.’”
In disturbing footage, the girls are seen screaming at the man while hurling abusive insults such as: “you don’t belong here” and “cause you’re an immigrant and you were born in a different country.”
Later on, a teen boy is seen approaching the group and exposing his backside to Dave while the girls kept on calling him a ‘pedophile’ because he was recording them.
After the incident, Dave revealed he contacted the authorities and has been in touch with the teens’ parents.
“I appreciate the multiple samples of solidarity that both Mexicans and Irish have expressed to me, including relatives of the people involved,” Monklova wrote in an update.
“It is an isolated incident that does not reflect the true hospitality that characterizes the Irish in general, this is a lesson for both parts we must all learn some of this, after living a year here I have never had anything similar.
“Thank you family, friends and the press for your attention, I am well physically was not a major incident. This country has given me many good times and I think it is not fair that the good image of this country is stained only by this episode of intolerance.”
