A Star Wars fan converted a golf buggy into a life-size model of the iconic vehicle, Landspeeder, used by Luke Skywalker in the fantasy series.
It took YouTuber and inventor Colin Furze a total of five weeks to convert the golf buggy into a massive 3.7 meters long imitation of the vehicle that appeared in the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope.
Forty-year-old Colin lives in Lincolnshire and is known on YouTube and other social media sites for his inventions, including a drivable hot tub car and the world’s fastest mobility scooter.
Colin used a golf buggy as a base to make the outstanding model of the Landspeeder.
He prepared the 430-kilogram vehicle just ahead of the release of the newest Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker, that’s going to be released this month.
The movie will be the last sequel of the current trilogy of the franchise.
So far, Colin’s vehicle is the only known full-scale model of the Landspeeder. It can go up to 25 mph on wheel power and can do an impressive 40 mph when on the jet.
Colin said: “I built it by adapting a golf buggy and as far as I know it’s the only full-scale model in existence which has jets and is made from metal, the others are made from fiber glass.”
Colin procured most of the materials and parts to be used in the model from eBay.
He said that he is quite happy with the end result of what he created, adding that it was the first time he shaped iron like that.
Explaining the traits of the vehicle in detail, Colin said: “It’s very comfortable to drive as the golf buggy has suspension, but I would have liked a bit more leg room.”
Colin has created something for every one of the movies in the current trilogy. His creations include a giant AT-ACT and a Tie Silencer.
