Jaden is a 2 years old boy who was waiting to get his forever family but to his misfortune, the courts shut down and he was left stuck.
But this did not keep him away from meeting his forever family, the Wieneke family who lives in Forth Smith, Arkansas.
Kimberly Wieneke and her husband had been Jaden’s foster parents for over a year and they had fallen in love with the boy to ever let him go. So the family decided to adopt and take Jaden as their own son.
Kimberly said that the day parental rights were terminated, they knew they were adopting Jaden on April 16. But then the lockdown was announced before it and the courts got shut down.
But this did not stop them from adopting their dear child as the same session of the court could be conducted online too.
The family decided to take the hearing online. They asked permission from the authorities and they got it. There was no difference and they got their child adopted in no time.
The only thing they missed out on was the happy picture with smiles and cheers along with the church after adoption. But that is fine, they can always do that some other time.
Ashley Elam and Foster Care Worker Addie Martin both said that although the child’s safety has always been their prime concern, the check on the same has changed.
As the dynamics of the world changed drastically, the workers are not able to assess and check the right child care in proper order.
Kimberly says they are glad they could do it over a video call because they could not wait to adopt him anymore. She says she looks at Jaden sometimes and cannot even believe that he is finally their son for their entire lifetime.
